Woodturned News – 1st edition!
We’re BaaaaaAAAAAAAck
Hey Everybody! We are officially (finally) all set up at the new shop in Stanwood – whoop whoop! Man was that rough, not only did we have to wave bye-bye to all of our beloved kiln clients – but then we had to physically lift, pack, move and set up all over again (wouldn’t wish it on our worst enemy). It is such a relief to have the doors back open again and classes starting back up – let the rebirth begin!
Woodturning Students Incoming!
So far we have had two new students come in for intro classes – these are always some of the most fun classes because everyone’s “ah ha!” moment comes to them differently. Andrew really does a great job easing our students into a new craft and tailoring his approach based on experience level, comfort level and what direction the student wants to go. So so happy to get folks back behind the lathe!
Reclaimed Maple & Veteran’s Non-Profit Projects
Even though we haven’t been open for classes we have had some orders to work on. We had one client that came to us because a beloved maple came down in her childhood home’s yard and she requested sets of live edged bowls for each of her sibling’s made out of the wood – which turned out beautiful with great figuring. We also had some orders for cutting boards, and another order from our favorite non-profit, Veteran Rites, for medallions.
Upcoming Events
| The American Association of Woodturners is having their annual Woodturning Symposium, June 12-15th at Saint Paul River Center in St. Paul Minnesota. This is a wonderful organization that brings woodturners from across the country together – so if you happen to be in the Midwest or are up for a road trip we definitely encourage you to check it out! |
