Kiln News – April 2024
Kickin’ The Spring Off Right |
This month is rolling right along – we had the Skagit Wood Expo at the beginning of the month (more on that below) where we got to talk to tons of folks about our services and classes, are continuing to plug away at our custom jobs, and are just wrapping up the second load of black locust from the big drop-off late last month. We were also able to harvest a magnolia tree that was taken down at a residence – it’s beautiful wood, and smells good to boot! To top it all off we just got another order from one of our favorite non-profits, Veteran Rites! Can’t wait to get started on this project because we love being a part of the important work that this organization does for returning vets. |
Wood People Unite! |
The 2024 Skagit Wood Expo was on April 6th and 7th, and we had a great time! Thank you to all of our students and customers who stopped by to say “hi!” Altogether this was an incredible event where we truly felt like we were amongst our people. Cool wood, incredible craftspeople, fun and crazy entertainment – we can’t wait to do it again next year! |
I’ve Got 99 Problems…And Wood Storage Is Most Of Them… |
We are always looking for new, simple, ways to get wood up out of the way. Paul Jackman recently shared his favorite solution for lumber storage. Easy and fast, these wooden brackets are made from butcherblock off-cuts (or 2”x4”s) and metal angle brackets. He also includes the free plans for these are on his website. Check it out: |
In The Kiln |
As we said up above, we are still making it through the huge load of black locust but are unloading the second batch tomorrow. In the meantime we are booking May-June runs now so let us know if you have a load or a slab you’d like to get dry! Give us a call at (425)312-3885 or email us anytime to get on the schedule. |
